SLDB Visits to Research Black Soldier Fly as Chicken Feed
Tuesday, 20 October 2026
Share on FacebookA team from the Sabah Land Development Board (SLDB) came back to our farm to look into Black Soldier Fly larvae as feed for chickens, from the breeding cages to the larvae trays and our own free-range flock.
We welcomed a team from the Sabah Land Development Board (SLDB) back to our farm, this time on a research visit: how Black Soldier Fly larvae can be used as feed for chickens.
We walked them through the whole cycle, from the egg-laying racks and the fly cages where it all begins, to the larvae trays and the beds where food waste is turned into protein-rich larvae and organic fertiliser.
The last stop was our own chickens. Our free-range flock is raised with BSF larvae from the farm as part of its feed, so the team could see the feed and the birds it goes to in the same visit.
Thank you to the SLDB team for coming back and for all the good questions. We look forward to seeing where this research goes.
